The project
Why does being women imply that what we say is doubted? From a Cassandra that no one believes to a Joan of Arc burned at the stake, from a Christina of Tyre with her tongue ripped out to an Ana Orantes burned alive after denouncing her husband's abuse on a TV show. Unfortunately, it's not hard to find examples of female figures ridiculed, mutilated, or murdered for speaking up in a space traditionally dominated by men.
Several chronicles explain that, in certain episodes of witch burning, the voices of the tortured women rose above the roar of the fire and could be heard long after the flames had extinguished. This haunting disembodied voice that refuses to die is the basis of a stage concert that delves into the world of irreverent and monstrous acts. Because women have always been closely associated with monsters.
Songs for the bitch-witch women is a stage piece blending performance, music, and theater that stems from the need to find "another word"; a physical word that resonates within our bodies, a word that recovers its primordial meaning and sheds euphemisms, a language that does not obey the logics of rational thought. The show is a concert of a woman-monster constantly transforming, who is one and yet is all. An oracle that reads us from within, an attempt to dissolve the invisible line separating the self from the other.
